Couldn't sleep so I made this....

I found one of these on another blog and decided to try it. I woke up at 5 am yesterday and couldn't sleep... I wanted to try this so bad! I did and it worked!!
This is my daddy.... I wanted to give it to mom for Christmas but couldn't wait that long!! I should have put his name on it... but DID NOT want the birthday and the last day of his life on there! That would be a constant reminder that he is not with us... he is, just not physically.

I'm thinking of listing this on etsy... not this one, but showing what it would look like and then let the buyer send me a photo and I could put it on the candle and ship it to them. It could say anything they wanted it to anywhere on their's ... what do you think? I really don't know how much to charge for something like this... Maybe $10 for a personalized candle??? Is that too much???

I read STEPHANIE ACKERMAN'S blog daily. That girl is so funny!! You have to go see her and leave her some LOVE! Believe me, she is sharing hers! She is an inspiration to me and lots of others out there, I'm sure you'll be blessed too by reading her blog. She is talented and God led in every sense of the word! Oh, and I LOVE her stuff!! Her doodles are so good and, well, it is all good.... you'll just have to go see for yourself!

I get to go to a local scrapbook convention in 12 days!!! I've been counting down for months now! It is a 3 1/2 hour drive for me! Hope I can do it! It is called the Scrapbook Extravaganza and it is year 8 (I think) for this! I've been to the 3rd one up till now, so this will make me 5 going to. We have 8 (9 this year) classes, a t-shirt, goodie bag and so much more! It is a big deal for us Arkansas girls. The local scrapbook store I worked for is the ones who put it on every year. This one is supposed to be the biggest one yet!! You can go to the website and read about it if you like... and hey anyone out there... you can get a ticket - they still have some left. Their site is Scrapus.com click HERE to go there....
Well, I have TONS to do today so I need to get busy!
Have a great day to y'all!!

Just one more day.......

I was going through some of my copies of some OLD pictures that mom had and came across this one. I've never scrapbooked any pictures of my MawMaw and PawPaw, daddy's mom and daddy,so I decided to. I don't remember much about going to their house, except for these things....
*it was always SO HOT in there that I wanted to go home as soon as we got there
*the time my cousin almost stepped on a snake and I had to go get help
*the STUPID turkeys that pawpaw had up at the barn, I'd try to go up past them and they'd chase me, or at least that is what I thought they were doing (I was somewhere around maybe 7 or 8... I know my sister may be reading this, so if I'm wrong, then oops!)
*eating WATERMELONS, pawpaw grew them and we'd eat them out back on the picnic table
*smelling the money he'd get from the sale of his watermelons, he kept the money in a cigar box... oh what I wouldn't give for one of his boxes!!
*CHRISTMAS EVE was always spent at their house... after we'd go home SANTA CLAUS had been to see me! What a joy that was :)
*their names... Mildred and Ervin, we always gave him a carton of Lucky Strike cigarettes for CHRISTMAS
I wish I could have them back now! I know I'd enjoy my time spent with MawMaw, I'm sure she could have taught me many things. I was pretty young when they passed away. I think I was 12 when PawPaw died, not sure about MawMaw.
Just one more day with each member of my family that has passed away, that is what I'd like... just one more day.

Still using the cardboard! I got some lace at Hobby Lobby last Monday and used a bit and my Sizzix 4" scalloped circle die and another flower die with the dictionary pages to make the flowers. The patterned paper is actually some I got from the Dollar Tree! It is not too bad for a buck ;)

Have a great night!
I've got to go feed the fish and put some more water in my little pond... I think it is leaking! Gotta feed the birdies too! They are all over the place out back and their feeders are empty!
Going to play some more! I've got some Liquid Applique to use for a class project for November. I'll let ya know how it turns out.
Happy Scrappin'!!

Notebook papers and MORE cardboard

I found this picture of Dakota when he was about 1 1/2 years old. I wasn't sure what papers to use so I pulled out of the Notebook paper pack and used a piece of cardboard. I'm not so sure I like the brown paint on the cardboard though. It may be to "harsh" for the other lighter colors. I've been playing around with cardboard a lot lately. I REALLY LoVE that stuff!!

My first attempt at decorating for FALL!!

I'm not a lover of the mums... they die too quick. The lady said water them daily. I did... they died! Not sure about that :) The white one has stayed really pretty though! I started not to get the white one and wish now that I'd have gotten more of them! Oh, well....

Hope all is well with everyone out in blog land tonight!
Have a good night!

More new stuff...

Here is a card I made yesterday morning. I used one of the ideas from the CTMH idea book. I took the picture in our front yard last winter. I got lucky with that pict. It turned out pretty good, I thought.

This is the layout we made yesterday in our class. Please ignore the pict. of me. I just found the first one I could find and stuck it on to have something there to avoid having just a blank space. I'm not sure I like this layout too much, but they all were pleased in our class.Something about it just bugs me. It almost looks like a sticker sneeze to me.?!What do you think?
Have a good night!

I'm on a roll!

This is a page I made last night using a 12X12 piece of cardboard from work. Well, it started out as a 4'X4' sheet of cardboard and I cut it down. I found Donna Salazar a few months ago and she uses lots of denim, cardboard, lace and labels from the label maker on her pages and I love the look of it all! So when I found the huge piece of cardboard at work I knew what I needed to do! It was free and I can get TONS of it! It comes between the pallets of groceries when they come off the truck. I found some older pictures of my mom with Dakota and used the Tres Jolie paper from My Mind's Eye that I've had stashed away forever. I really like how it tured out.BUT... now that I see it here I'm thinking maybe it should have more color in it.

I used a rubber stamp from Purple Onion (I WAS A MONTHLY WINNER AT SISTERHOOD OF SCRAP AND WON A HUGE SET OF UNMOUNTED RED RUBBER STAMPS FROM PURPLE ONION)...anyway I painted on the cardboard and used Prima flowers (the old ones... I don't go anywhere where they sell them :( Hopefully, I'll get hooked up on ebay with someone who can get me some!)
The intricate scallop was cut using my Cricut Expression and the Design Studio. The more I use it, the more I LOVE IT!!

I cut flowers with my Sizzix die cutter...gotta love that old thing! I cut them out of vintage dictionary pages. I saw where Donna does that and so I had to try it and LOVE IT!

Look at his little face! He loves his mawmaw!! They have been close since day one! I had Dakota about 8 months after daddy passed away. I think having him was a double blessing! He was a gift to me and for mom :) He kept her busy when she needed it the most! This was taken in 2002, I believe. So he was 2 years old. I miss him being that little!

I'm off to do another page and get ready for my class tomorrow. I'm also going to start making some Christmas cards too! I got my new stamps in today from CTMH and can't wait to use them!!

Another layout!

I've been busy. This is what I made...

I got the idea from ART AND SOUL (you can click on the words there and it should take you straight to the place to see the video where I got the idea. Oh, and if you go, look around and see all the good stuff there is to see. I think you'll like it!)
This is my mom when she was in her teens. I love the way the old pictures look. I'd love to be able to take pictures like that!
I used the Close To My Heart Notebook paper set, the Soul Mates stamp set, CTMH rubon word: Memories, Chocolate ribbon and a curly wire. Oh, and the buttons are not actually buttons.
Here is a close up so you can see some of the details in the buttons...

I stamped the border from the stamp set then used a 5/8" punch to punch out the pattern I wanted my "buttons" to have. I then covered them with CTMH Liquid Glass and let it dry. Lastly I punched tiny holes in them to give them the button look and threaded them with brown string. The flowers were white and I wanted to age them so I used Desert Sand ink on them. Well, they just looked dirty then, so I went over them again with Hollyhock ink. I like they way they turned out.

They do look kind of dirty, but then again that is OK since I wanted to give them the aged look. I put a small paper doily under the flowers and topped them all off with a big pink brad that I covered with CTMH rubons.

I've got to get started on some things for my class I've got coming up this next weekend. We are using these papers and the stickers but I'm not sure what we'll do just yet. I know it'll be a single 12X12 layout and nothing too hard. I try to keep it simple for the beginners but give enough extras for the advanced ones to go out on their own and do what they like with their page. So far it is good that way. I really have a good group. I have about 8-10 on average and they all seem to have such a good time! I can't wait for this one!!

As I'm typing this I'm waiting for my picts. to upload so they must be enormous files.... because I've been typing for awhile now and they are STILL not done!!

Guess I'll wrap up now they just finished. Hope you like the page. Keep the comments coming I LOVE TO READ WHAT YOU LEAVE FOR ME!!!!!!!!
